Chairman of Executive Committee for the Electrical Engineering Department, Tsinghua University, Director of the Energy Internet Research Institute, Tsinghua University Director of the Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute

In response to the national movements of "Energy Revolution" and "Internet+," the Energy Internet Research Institute (referred to as the institute) at Tsinghua University was established in the spring of 2015, becoming China's first professional institute for research on Energy Internet. With the support of Tsinghua University's department of Electrical Machinery, School of Materials, and other units in the energy discipline, the Institute has successively established 13 research centers, four research laboratories, and one joint research center, covering the main directions of energy Internet academic research and technology research development. The primary areas of the Institute include energy strategy and policy research, energy Internet planning and design, energy Internet key technology r&d and engineering applications, etc. On this basis, the Institute strives to build itself into a training center, scientific and technological innovation center, and industrial gathering center in the field of energy and the Internet. As an engineering representative of Tsinghua University's national top think tank, it continues to build a think tank with significant influence on the strategic decision-making of the new generation of energy development. The Institute focuses on critical issues of national energy transformation, coordinates basic, theoretical, and strategic research work. To serve the new requirements of national energy governance, it has formed a long- term communication and cooperation mechanism with federal energy industry authorities. The Institute was deeply involved in the documents such as the "Institutional Opinions on Further Deepening the Reform of electric Power System" and" Guidelines on promoting the development of "Internet +" intelligent energy." Entrusted by the National Energy Administration, it organized the selection, promotion, and acceptance of 55 national energy Internet demonstration projects. And it has planned, compiled, and published "National Energy Internet Development future 2018". Furthermore, on this basis, it has created "The National Energy Internet Development Report" and" The National Energy Internet Development Technology Blue Book" and other industry annual reports. Published monographs such as "Energy Internet" and "Energy Internet Development Study"; led the drafting of standards such as "Energy Internet Terminology" and "Energy Internet Use Cases." Since the Institute's establishment, it has developed with new energy internet, implementing the development concept of "innovation, coordination innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing," practising the ultimate goal of "improving energy efficiency." At the same time, we are pleased to see that the energy Internet is gaining more attention and importance. For example, CPSC Oil and Sinopec actively explore a new "traditional energy + Internet" cooperation model. The Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering has set up a special committee for the energy internet; State Grid Corporation proposes the strategic goal of building a leading international energy internet enterprise with Chinese characteristics. As the energy Internet moves from concept to implementation, the number of energy Internet- related enterprises has increased dramatically; Scientific research and academic organizations have emerged; The key technologies have become a popular topic, and the standard system is gradually building up. Furthermore, the training system is already established. In a word, the energy Internet industry has shown vigorous development. The development of the energy Internet still faces many unknown technical questions that need to be answered, and many institutional barriers need to be broken through. However, through the joint efforts of governments, enterprises, research institutions, universities, and other parties, we have always believed that we will achieve clean and efficient energy use by building consensus among all sectors of society. This conviction will always inspire us to keep going without forgetting our original intention!
