CEIA | Successful Forum on Industrial Innovation and Engineering Applications Held at the 2023 China Energy Internet Conference

        In a significant development, the Forum on Industrial Innovation and Engineering Applications took place during the 2023 China Energy Internet Conference in Shanghai. The event was organized by the Industrial Innovation and Engineering Applications Special Committee of the China Energy Internet Industry Alliance (CEIA).

        The primary objective of the forum was to stimulate technological innovation and development in the field of industrial innovation and engineering applications. It aimed to foster collaborative efforts to seamlessly integrate new technologies and products, enhance the sustainability of related industries, and improve the quality and efficiency of engineering applications. The forum comprised several segments, including opening remarks by the director, a report by the secretariat on the committee's work plan, the presentation of outstanding committee member certificates, and thematic presentations.

Director of the Special Committee, Ge Zhaojun, delivering opening remarks


        Chaired by Secretary-General Wan Jiancheng, the meeting began with an address by Ge Zhaojun, the director of the special committee and former director of the Infrastructure Department at State Grid Corporation of China. Ge outlined the three-year development plan of the special committee and proposed a vision for activating new dynamics in the development of the energy internet, constructing new business models for the development of a new power system. He emphasized the commitment to building a top-notch platform for industrial innovation and engineering applications in the energy internet, featuring "one goal, two strategic positions, four key directions, and two governance measures." Going forward, the committee aims to establish an effective working mechanism to better represent the industry's voice, addressing the current challenges faced by the energy internet industry and building an innovative technical system for the deep integration of "government, industry, academia, research, and application" in the smart power sector.

Secretary-General of the Special Committee, Wan Jiancheng


        Secretary-General Wan Jiancheng presented the committee's "2023 Work Summary and 2024 Key Work Plan," detailing the organization's activities over the next year. The committee has set up four working groups, with the secretariat responsible for organizational development, special topic research, and industry exchange activities. Key focus areas for the working groups include drafting a three-year plan, creating guidelines for post-project evaluations, exploring digital infrastructure, and conducting case analyses of intelligent substations. The 2024 work plan encompasses various activities such as the director's working meeting, thematic exchanges, research projects, surveys, academic conferences, system development, technical standards formulation, consulting projects, case collections, and an annual meeting. These initiatives aim to drive innovation and engineering applications in the new power system industry.

Award ceremony honoring outstanding committee members


        The third agenda item of the conference witnessed the announcement of the seven outstanding committee members for the year 2023. Director Ge Zhaojun was invited to present the distinguished members with honor certificates. The recognized members include Huang Xiaoguang, Wang Lei, Gu Tingyun, Zhang Jiehua, Liu Xiaoxin, Liu Meng, and Wu Jinbo.


        The subsequent thematic presentation segment showcased captivating talks from each of these esteemed guests.

1. Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau of Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd.: "Innovative Development and Application of 500 kV Cables"

        In an engaging presentation, the bureau provided an overview of the 500 kV cable project, emphasizing its highlights and significance. Notably, the bureau released the "White Paper on Innovative Development and Application of 500 kV Cables" during the sub-forum, drawing extensive attention from participants. This milestone event signifies a breakthrough in China's cable industry and showcases the nation's advanced cable technology.

2. State Grid Hunan Power Company Limited: "Practice of Digital Distribution Network Construction in Hunan Company"

        The presentation from State Grid Hunan Power Company offered practical insights and analyzed the experiences and challenges faced in the construction of a digital distribution network. The detailed case studies provided valuable lessons for industry peers.

3. Northeast Electric Power University: "Practice and Analysis of Value Mining of Electric Power Big Data"

        Focusing on electric power big data, the university delved into the vast potential of mining and analyzing this crucial resource, offering profound insights for the industry.

4. Electric Power Science Research Institute of State Grid Hunan Power Company Limited: "Issues and Reflections on the Testing and Operation of Electrochemical Energy Storage Stations in Hunan"

        This presentation delved into the challenges encountered during the testing and operation of electrochemical energy storage stations, offering thoughtful reflections on critical issues.

5. Electric Power Science Research Institute of State Grid Shandong Power Company Limited: "Key Technologies and Applications of Distributed Thermal Energy Storage Load Aggregation Control"

        Focusing on distributed thermal energy storage, the institute highlighted key technologies and application areas, providing valuable guidance for industry development.

6. Southern Power Grid Industrial Investment Group Co., Ltd.: "Technological Advances in Adjustable Load Grid Operation and Control for New Power Systems"

        A comprehensive exploration of the adjustable load grid operation and control technology for new power systems, the presentation offered robust support for future development.

7. Xianju County Power Supply Company of State Grid Zhejiang Power Company Limited: "Case Sharing of Blockchain-based Dual Carbon Green Coins and Carbon Monitoring Emission Reduction Projects"


        The final presentation showcased the application of blockchain technology in the company's dual carbon green coin and carbon monitoring emission reduction projects, demonstrating the tangible outcomes of cutting-edge technology in practical scenarios.


        Following each speaker's captivating presentation, the attendees, comprised of experts and committee members, displayed a keen interest and actively engaged in interactive discussions. Questions were raised, and enthusiastic exchanges unfolded, creating a vibrant atmosphere of dialogue. This live interaction not only added dynamism and inspiration to the thematic presentations but also transformed participants from mere listeners to active contributors, sharing their insights and experiences. The on-site interaction enhanced the richness of the thematic presentations, providing participants with more opportunities to benefit from the knowledge and experiences of speakers and fellow experts. The entire thematic presentation segment brimmed with vitality, significantly enhancing the overall color and vibrancy of the conference.


        The Industrial Innovation and Engineering Applications Sub-Forum concluded on a high note, with participating committee members and guests not only sharing the latest technologies and research findings but also delving into in-depth discussions on the future trends in industrial innovation and engineering applications. Committee members actively responded to national policies on carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, propelling the development of new power systems towards cleaner and more sustainable directions.


        Looking ahead to the next year's conference, there is anticipation for a continued exploration and deepening of these crucial topics. The commitment to driving innovation and application in the energy internet industry remains strong, fostering a collaborative environment for advancements in technology and industry practices.
