Recently, two international standard proposals initiated by ad hoc Group 1 (ahG1) of the IEC System Committee on Sustainable Electrified Transportation (SyC SET), with Li Lili from EIRI as the convener, have been approved for Project initiation. This marks another key achievement of our institute in advancing the construction of the international standard system in the field of electrified transportation.
IEC SyC SET is the first IEC System Committee with its Secretariat hosted by China, with State Grid Electric Power Research Institute (NARI Group) undertaking the Secretariat responsibilities. The committee is committed to building a cross-industry, system-level standard system for sustainable electrified transportation and promoting global standardization cooperation. As a leading supporting organization, our institute played a crucial role in promoting the establishment of IEC SyC SET and China's successful bid for the Secretariat. Since 2024, Prof. Li Lili from EIRI, as the convener of ahG1 (Key Task Identification Working Group) under IEC SyC SET, has led the relevant team to conduct research on key task identification in the field of sustainable electrified transportation. In collaboration with State Grid Shanghai Electric Power Company, NARI Group, and international experts from the working group, he took the lead in proposing two key tasks: "Dynamic Carbon Emission Assessment" and "High-Power Automatic Charging". After multiple rounds of international seminars and technical refinement, ahG1 officially submitted two international standard proposals for system assessment of these key tasks to the SyC SET Secretariat, which were then formally submitted to active member countries for voting and ultimately approved for Project initiation.

Two Proposals Initiated by ahG1 under SyC SET Approved by IEC
The proposal "Dynamic Carbon Emission Assessment during Electric Vehicle Operation" focuses on the demand for dynamic and accurate measurement of electricity-related emissions from electric vehicles. It establishes a system assessment framework covering the collaborative interaction of multiple systems, including vehicle systems, power systems, charging systems, distributed energy resources, and carbon accounting. This framework will guide industry participants, standard-setting organizations, and regulators to accelerate the application of dynamic carbon accounting, promoting the global transition towards more sustainable electrified transportation.
The proposal "System Assessment of High-Power Automatic Charging Solutions for Electric Vehicles" focuses on the typical scenario where electric vehicles with autonomous driving capabilities achieve high-power automatic charging in areas equipped with automatic charging devices. The implementation of this project will help promote the in-depth integration of autonomous driving and electrified transportation, providing technical support and strategic leadership for building safe, efficient, and sustainable charging infrastructure worldwide.
The successful approval of these two proposals is an important phased achievement of EIRI as the convener unit of ahG1 in supporting and advancing the work of IEC SyC SET. It will help China enhance its influence in international standards in the global electrified transportation field, strengthen the international standard expert collaboration network in this area, further promote China's electrified transportation industry to go global, and provide new platforms and opportunities for Chinese experts and institutions to deeply participate in the construction of the global sustainable governance system for electrified transportation. During this process, our institute, in conjunction with Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute, has cultivated a team of international standard talents in the field of electrified transportation, represented by Li Lili, Chen Ruirui, Zhou Hui, Zhong Danting, Peng Jinghui, and Deng Siwei. The relevant work has been highly recognized by competent authorities and cooperative units such as the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China (SAC), State Grid Corporation of China, NARI Group, State Grid Shanghai Electric Power Company, and China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC).
Looking forward, experts from EIRI will continue to fulfill their responsibilities as the convener of ahG1, further strengthen the construction of the international standard talent echelon in collaboration with Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute. Under the guidance of the IEC SyC SET Secretariat, Committee Chairman, and technical officials, they will actively support the formulation of the two international standards and the promotion of their application in the industrial chain. Meanwhile, we will further deepen cooperation with leading enterprises and institutions in the domestic and global industrial chains, continuously explore the demand for key tasks supporting the sustainable development of electrified transportation, promote the approval of more international standards in the field of sustainable electrified transportation, and contribute professional strength to the development of global green transportation.
