In April 2015, the Energy Internet Research Institute, Tsinghua University (EIRI), was officially established in Beijing, making it the pioneering research institute on Energy Internet in China. EIRI primarily focuses on conducting research on Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Development Strategy, New-type Power Systems, Energy Internet, Power Sector Reform, and Renewable Energy Development.
With the strong support of Tsinghua University's scientific and research capabilities, including the Department of Electrical Engineering, EIRI has established fourteen research centers and four research labs by 2023 to cover a wide range of academic research fields and technological advancements related to the Energy Internet. Moreover, EIRI actively promotes the establishment of the China Energy Internet Alliance (CEIA) while serving as its secretariat.
EIRI plays a crucial role in advocating for the integration of Energy Internet into national policies, undertaking national-level research projects, mobilizing innovative technology resources, and driving industry development through groundbreaking achievements in energy internet technologies. Moving forward with unwavering determination, EIRI will continue to contribute significantly towards academic prosperity, technological innovation, and industrial advancement within the field of energy internet.
