  • News | Professor Chongqing Kang Wins the IEEE PES Roy Billinton Power System Reliability Award
    The IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) recently announced the 2021 PES Society-Level Awards. Professor Chongqing Kang, Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Director of Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University, was awarded the IEEE PES Roy Billinton Power System Reliability Award "for contribution to power system reliability analysis and enhancement under high renewable energy penetration”.

  • Press Release | Tsinghua University and IET Hosted the First IET International Workshop on IGCT and Applications Successfully
    November 27, 2020, Beijing – Today, the 1st IET International Workshop on IGCT and Applications kicked off online at 8 PM. The workshop, which is the first international conference focusing on IGCT and applications, was organized by Tsinghua University and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and supported by the DC Research Center of the Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University. About 50 industry experts, university faculties and students, and engineering and technicians from the US, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, China and other countries attended the workshop.

    October 31, Wuhan – Today, the 4th IEEE Energy Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration and a special workshop on the National Key R&D program "Smart Grid Technology and Equipment" kicked off at the Wuhan East Lake International Conference Center. The conference gathered experts and scholars from the power and energy sector both at home and abroad, as well as representatives of various public agencies.

  • Press Release | 2020 International Green Energy Summit Held in Success
    Co-organized by the US-China Green Energy Council, the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, and the Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University, the 2020 International Green Energy Summit took place in an online conference from December 5 to 7. This year’s Summit is on the theme of "Global Energy Innovation and International Collaboration in the Post-Pandemic World". The Summit featured prominent speakers, academics and Nobel laureates from the fields of electricity, smart transportation and energy investment in China, the US and some European countries. They shared their insights on key topics such as energy Internet, clean energy, electric vehicles, energy storage technology, smart cities and low-carbon transformation of enterprises. The summit aimed at exploring effective solutions, integrating innovative ideas on global energy, and providing suggestions for addressing global climate change and seizing new opportunities for green development.

    The 16th IET International Conference on AC and DC Transmission (hereinafter referred to as ACDC 2020) took place online on July 2-3, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ACDC 2020 adopted a virtual format for the first time and was live-streamed on Tencent Meeting, Weibo (@Graduate Union of Tsinghua University) and Bilibili (@Tsinghua DC).

  • Research Updates | The Department of Electrical Engineering, Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University and Tsinghua Sichuan
    A research platform composed of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Energy Internet Research Institute of Tsinghua University and Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute has developed the world’s first Coupled Negative Voltage Hybrid DC circuit breaker topology, which achieves a breakthrough in commutation technology with low-loss and high-reliability, and addresses the challenges of bi-directional flow control and efficient high-capacity current interruption of power electronic switches in DC power grid.

  • News | Energy Internet Think Tank Research Center Established with Joint Efforts of Three Faculties
    On May 18th, the Energy Internet Think Tank Research Center was established with the joint efforts of three faculties of Tsinghua University: the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Energy Internet Research Institute, and Tsinghua Sichuan Energy Internet Research Institute. The center focuses on energy internet research and provides support to the Institute for Governance Studies of Tsinghua University, a newly established high-end national think tank. The center also aims to promote China’s solutions for building a beautiful China, achieving harmony between humanity and nature, and advancing global sustainable development.
